Discover the NÖAAB: Reforms and pioneering from Dürnstein!

On May 24, 2025, the Lower Austrian employee association (NÖAAB) organized the traditional member day under the motto "Discover Lower Austria with the NÖAAB". This took place in the picturesque surroundings of Dürnstein in the Wachau, a place that is known for its collegiate church and the ruins of Dürnstein. The participants had the opportunity to hike to the ruin and take a tour of the pen.

The day closed in the old castle cellar, in which the state chairwoman of the Lower Austria, Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister, presented the achievements of the Lower Austria for the past 80 years. Teschl-Hofmeister referred to the important personalities Siegfried Ludwig and Liese Prokop, who contributed significantly to improving working conditions in Lower Austria. As part of the event, five claims to the future federal government were also formulated.

claims and reforms

The NÖAAB's demands aim to improve working conditions and the recognition of work performance. In particular, Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized the need that work should be worth more than government support; This is interpreted as performance justice. The five core demands are:

  • Reform of social assistance: recipients should do non-profit work or take part in integration or qualification measures.
  • Abolition of marginal employment in the case of simultaneous social welfare trains.
  • Tax exemption of overtime.
  • Tax exemption from the work performance of pensioners.
  • Reform of difficult work: Conversion from daylike to an hourly view (120 hours per month).

The NÖAAB representatives also called for stronger support for educators, since education is viewed as the basis for performance. A reform package for the Lower Austria building regulations was presented in mid -May in cooperation with the Business Association and the VP Landtag club, which underlines the importance of joint work.

In order to promote the exchange and participation, a program process was launched that invites the members of the NÖAAB to submit ideas and suggestions. Katja Seitner, the state manager of the NÖAAB, was optimistic about the ideas brought in and emphasized the importance of performance justice.

work as the basis of prosperity

During the event, Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized the role of employees in Austria as the provider of added value and the financing of the welfare state. Work creates prosperity and it is crucial to make jobs more attractive. This message was also conveyed during the "Work for Lower Austria Tour", in which important reforms were presented.

A context in which these discussions take place is the new website of the Chamber of Labor (AK), which is intended to promote interactivity and information access for members. Users can choose your state to switch to the corresponding Chamber of Labor, and a search function and various services are available. This development is another step to support employees in Niedösterreich and to strengthen social dialogue in the region.

In this anniversary year 2025, the NÖAAB makes it clear that the community between employees and employers is decisive for future successes, and invites all members to actively participate in the design of their working world.
