In Wallsee-Sindelburg there was a ceremonial award of former municipal councils, in which governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner presented the honorary ring of the market town to the long-time mayor Hans Bachinger. Bachinger, who was in office for a total of 18 years, was recognized for his services to the community. Under the leadership of Bachinger, numerous projects were successfully implemented. These include the renovation of the elementary and middle school, the new construction of the musician home and the fire station in Sindelburg, as well as improvements on the Danube Cycle Path and for flood protection. His term was characterized by good cooperation with the SPÖ and partly also with the FPÖ. He also called the SPÖ politician Herbert Katzengruber as his role model and emphasized the importance of cooperation for the future generations of community politicians.

These people raise an average of 20 hours a week for the interests of their communities. Especially in rural and small municipalities, they are often the central contact for citizens. The challenges, such as the compatibility of volunteering, full -time and family, are also part of this work.
