Threats against schools: Linz school in sight of a 20-year-old!
Linz, Österreich - The Otto Glöckel School in Linz was the goal of an alarming threat today. A 20-year-old Swiss is suspected of being in connection with this and several other bomb threats in Austria. As the Krone , the St. Gallen public prosecutor has taken over the investigation after the suspect was identified last autumn. It is believed that only four of the numerous threats that are in circulation come from him.
The alleged targets include a shopping center in Salzburg, the train station in Wels as well as schools in Graz and Linz. However, the investigation shows that cross -border cooperation between the authorities is quite complicated. It remains unclear who is responsible for the remaining bomb threats, with a trace leading to a group in Germany. A final report by the government of state security and intelligence service is expected in the near future. There is also the possibility that so -called free -riders have also given threats.
bomb threats in several federal states
On October 23, 2023, similar threats to schools in several federal states in Germany were received by email. These reports led to large police operations, which resulted in the loss of teaching for hundreds of students. Schools in places such as Karlsruhe and Mannheim (Baden-Württemberg), Augsburg, Regensburg and Cham (Bavaria), as well as Solingen and Wuppertal (North Rhine-Westphalia) were affected, and even in Erfurt (Thuringia), like the Tagesschau documented.
The comprehensive police operations meant that almost all affected schools were searched with sniffer dogs, but no suspicious objects or indications were found on a danger situation. While the all -clear in most schools could be given after the searches, the question remained open whether there was a connection between the threats in the different federal states.
In Solingen, a person responsible informed the police about a bomb threat on Sunday evening, while two schools were affected in Cham and broke down the lessons after reporting the threats. However, a Mannheim community school was not searched because the police decided not to carry out on site after discovering the email. In addition, the ZDF also received a bomb threat in Mainz, which led to the evacuation of several buildings, but the all -clear was quickly given.
In the past few months, bomb threats against schools and public institutions have repeatedly provided panic moments and presented the security forces with challenges. The investigation into the backgrounds and the author of the emails are still underway, while the public is concerned about further developments.
