CESI starts new era: Space energy from Milan for the future!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On March 13, 2025, CESI (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimental Italiano) inaugurated a new production line for solar cells in Milan and at the same time launched the new Cesi Space division. This system will not only increase the production capacity by impressive 200 %, but will also contribute significantly to the continued expansion in the space technology sector. High -ranking representatives such as Adolfo Urso, Minister of Companies, and Teodoro Valente, President of the Italian Space Teris Auto, took part in the inauguration ceremony. With a total investment of 20 million euros, more than a third is financed by a public-private partnership as part of the Space Factory 4.0 program, CESI was able to implement important technological innovations, including five new evaporators and an advanced MOCVD reactor for the controlled growth of state-of-the-art semiconductor.
CESI is known for its state -of -the -art solar cells, which achieve over 30 % efficiency, even under extreme conditions. The company has already produced over 200,000 solar cells for more than 100 satellites and has thus established itself as the world's leading manufacturer for civilian space applications. The CESI Space triple solar cells are particularly indispensable in space travel, since materials such as gallium arsenide and indium-gallium phosphide are used that are ideal for the extreme conditions in space. The CEO of CESI, Nicola Melchiotti, emphasized the company's innovation leadership: "At CESI we have always been at the forefront of innovation in the electrical sector" and underlined the importance of the new business area at a time when the space industry is experiencing unprecedented investments.
