Super election year 2023: Outlook for the upcoming elections in Austria
This year there have been some important elections in Austria that shaped the super election year. After the municipal elections in Innsbruck, Salzburg and the two nationwide urns, only the state election in Styria is now pending. The Styrians are called on November 24th to vote.
Next year the election series will continue. On January 19, the election of the Burgenland state parliament, followed by the local council elections in Lower Austria on January 26. Local council elections are also planned for the coming year in Styria (exclusive Graz, where only elected in September 2026) and in Vorarlberg. The Styrian municipal elections are scheduled for March 23.
Another important date in the political calendar is the state election in Vienna in autumn of next year. Here the voters are called up to re-elect the state parliament if the legislative period is fully exhausted by the red-pink coalition.
This series of elections reflects the democratic basis of Austria and offers the citizens the opportunity to determine their political representatives at local and national level. It is important that all citizens make use of their right to vote to help shape the future of their country.
