Jabing: Housing projects and renewable energies for the future

The municipality of Jabing continues to invest in residential construction to move young people to the community and improve the living environment. The topic of renewable energy also plays an important role in the future of the community. Mayor Günter Valika emphasizes that despite difficult financial circumstances, the community is determined to increase the quality of life.

In Jabing there are current renovation needs. The flood in June has damaged many freight paths. The small pink adam could be overloaded while another dam remained stable. In order to get the dangers better under control, the community plans to expand this dam and repair the necessary paths.

renewable energies in focus

A real progress is the changeover to air heat pumps in the parish hall, as part of a comprehensive plan for the use of renewable energies. The kindergarten and elementary school are equipped with a new photovoltaic system that not only delivers environmentally friendly energy, but also lowers the operating costs. In addition, an energy community is initiated - an important step in a region that is often seen as a pioneer in terms of solar energy. A first photovoltaic system was installed early on at the municipal and fire station. Road lighting is also gradually renewed to minimize energy consumption and work more efficiently. For 2025 there is also a review of the water outflows to ensure that such flood events can be better overcome in the future.

In these developments it becomes clear that Jabing is trying to find innovative solutions in order to improve both living space and the environment. Cooperation with institutions and communities that pursue similar projects is of central importance.

growth in residential construction

Another important aspect for the community is residential construction. Jabing has established itself as an attractive living community under the motto "Feel comfortable in Jabing". Here the Oberwarter Siedlungsenossenschaft (OSG) supports the construction of new residential buildings. Four row houses and four bungalows are currently being built in the settlement “Am Felde”, of which six units have already been awarded. Demand illustrates that Jabing is a living place that is becoming more attractive through new buildings. Planning for a further construction phase is already in the power, and a nursing base is to be created on part of the property, which will significantly strengthen the social infrastructure of the community.

"When everything is complete, around 15 percent of Jabingen citizens will live in OSG apartments," said Mayor Valika. This shows how important residential construction is for the community and what commitment is shown here.

In addition to these structural changes, it is above all the clubs that shape social life in Jabing. Mayor Valika is particularly proud of the commitment of the fire brigade, which took part in the federal competition this year and is even planning to participate in the European fire service competition in Berlin in 2026. The newly formed youth group is also active, it organized a youth festival for the first time in the summer and is planning further events such as a mulled wine stand.

The local sports clubs also contribute to the community. The Football Association ASSKÖ JABING recently celebrated a 4-2 home win against Hochart and, after relegation last season, is currently positioning itself in midfield in the 2nd class South A. Such successes strengthen the cohesion and identity within the community.

The initiatives and developments in Jabing show how committed the community is to offer both its inhabitants a pleasant living environment as well as to promote future topics such as climate protection and sustainable residential construction.
