The fascinating herding dog tournament in Unterfrauenhaid: man and animal in harmony
The first weekend in October in Unterfrauenhaid will certainly be remembered, because the international herding dog tournament "Frahoader Trial 2024" took place there. This event is always a special highlight, because it's not just about competition, but about the harmonious relationship between man and dog. The participants had the task of leading their dogs through an exciting course when working with sheep.
In the picturesque surroundings of the former Sandgrube Freiberger, surrounded by flowering trees and bright autumn colors, not only local, but also international participants from all over Europe experienced exciting competitions. At the event, one spoke mostly English, which gave the whole an additional international flair and raised memories of the charming landscapes of England. This atmosphere gave the tournament a special charm.
tasks of the participants
On three days, the herding dogs impressed with their extraordinary skills. The dogs had to drive sheep over long distances and fully react to the verbal commands or whistle signals from their dog handlers. This was an impressive demonstration of trust and communication between humans and animals. Spectators were able to experience up close how precisely and sensitively the dogs implemented the instructions of their owners.
The experienced judge Horst Ludwig from Germany, who observed every step of the participants, took over the strict points. The organizers Beatrice Stinakovits and her husband were responsible for providing the sheep and ensured that the tournament runs smoothly.
herds safely guide
The challenge of the dog handlers was to skillfully drive a group of sheep through a crazy course. Different obstacles such as goals and turning maneuvers not only demanded speed, but also skill. The more experienced the dogs became, the more complex the task was, since they had to guide a small herd of five sheep over the course, which was much more difficult than a large herd. It was of the greatest importance that the sheep could not be touched by the dogs or the dog handlers.
The well -being of the sheep was always in the foreground: according to their task, the sheep were allowed to go to a retirement area in order to recover from the effort. Interestingly, the dogs were so concentrated during the entire competition that they also had an eye on their flocks during the breaks. This impressive presentation of the cooperation between man and dog deserves greatest praise and recognition. For dog lovers and everyone who wants to gain new experiences, the "Unterfrauenhaider herding dog tournament" represents a must.
