Water management at the Neusiedler See: A joint project begins
A new project for the further development of water management starts in the Fertö-Neusiedler See area. The project is headed by the Foster Europe Foundation for Strong European Region and is based in Esterhazy Castle in Eisenstadt. The official start in Neusiedl am See takes place with a seminar and a panel discussion that will take place.
The overarching goal of this project is to combine a variety of interests and concepts in order to develop sustainable and participatory water management. This means that citizens should be actively involved in creating transparency and publicly discussing the approaches. Cooperation with the residents and other relevant actors is a central aspect of the project.
project goals and process
The project extends over a total of eight EU countries, with the focus in Austria on Lake Neusiedler. Here the development of a resistant water management is pursued that meets the needs of the region. The dialogue events are designed to bring different perspectives together and tackle existing challenges in water management.
After the internal conference on Wednesday, a public event will take place, to which prominent participants are also invited. Among other things, Harald Grabenhofer from the Neusiedler See National Park will be present, as will Patrik Hierner from the Nordburgenland Tourism Association. This event should also offer space for open discussions and the exchange of ideas.
Another part of the project will be a seminar that will be carried out on Thursday with students from the Neusiedl am See high school. This shows the importance of young people for the issues of sustainability and environmental awareness. The project is designed for two years and aims to lay the foundations for sustainable water management in the Fertö-Neusiedler See area.
