New settler Michaela Brandlhofer occurs for women's rights in the FPÖ
After the recent election of the Freedom Party in Austria (FPÖ) in the National Council election, the political traces in Burgenland are clearly visible. In a meeting of the State Party Board in Pinkafeld on Thursday evening, an important personnel decision was on the agenda: Who takes over the mandate of the outgoing MP Alexander Petschnig? Petschnig, who moves to the National Council, remains active as the state party chairman of the FPÖ.
The answer to the question brought a breath of fresh air to the state parliament: Michaela Brandlhofer will take over the mandate of the Neusiedler Petschnig in the future. Brandlhofer is an experienced politician within the FPÖ and in the past, as a chairwoman of the apron organization "Burgenländer in Need", has emerged with social engagement.
tackle social challenges
A central concern of Brandlhofer is to improve living conditions for women in the world of work. It emphasizes that many women who work in professions with low payment often have to work under precarious conditions. "It cannot be that women work 20 or 25 hours a week and yet hardly have a perspective on sufficient income," she emphasizes. These women not only have to pay taxes and levies, they also contribute a large part to finance the social system, which in their opinion is completely unfair.
Brandlhofer also sees urgent need for action in family policy. She believes that it should not only be about the selection between different public childcare facilities: "We also have to promote childcare in the family network," she demands, addressing the challenges of modern families. Their views reflect the reality of many parents, who often have to deal with high living costs.
family and politics play an important role in the Brandlhofer dynasty. Her husband, Josef Brandlhofer, is also a long-time member of the FPÖ parliamentary group in the municipal council of Neusiedl. This personal connection to politics shows how much commitment and responsibility are valued in this family.
With her takeover of the mandate, Brandlhofer will surely try to implement her political priorities in the state parliament and to focus more on the concerns of its voters. This staffing marks an important step in the Burgenland state policy and could have an impact on the next state election in January 2025.
