University of Applied Sciences Burgenland becomes the University of Applied Science

The University of Applied Sciences Burgenland has changed its identity and is now officially called "University of Applied Science". This renaming was ceremoniously celebrated on Wednesday with the presentation of the new logo. The goal behind this change is to improve the international perception of the university and to emphasize the interdisciplinarity of your educational offers.

As the first academic institution in Burgenland, the "University of Applied Science" pursues the motto "brings special things together". This not only illustrates the diversity of their courses, but also the desire to link different disciplines. The renaming is part of a larger trend. Since the amendment to the University of Applied Sciences Act last July, all universities of applied sciences in Austria have had the opportunity to rename into "universities for applied science".

internationality and interdisciplinarity

Georg Pehm, the managing director of the university, explained the advantages that the new name brings: "By renaming, we achieve clearer international recognizability and strengths research as well as innovation". The clear signal not only speaks for institutional development, but also for the fact that teachings and research are increasingly being interdisciplinary. "We no longer think in subjects, but network our concepts," continued Pehm.

The university also deals with the decision of its students. In Germany and Switzerland, the titles “University” are already widespread, which should now help to increase international comparability and intelligibility of the degrees. The renaming is considered an important step to promote the attractiveness of the Burgenland study location and to assert itself in international competition.

The new, appealing logo and the word-picture brand focus on the origin of the university more and bear the name "University of Applied Sciences". This underlines that the institution is firmly rooted in Burgenland and at the same time perceives the international orientation.

offers and study locations

The university offers a total of 15 bachelor and 13 master's programs at its locations in Eisenstadt and Pinkafeld as well as numerous other university teaching. Over 8,400 students have currently enrolled at the facility. The four departments - energy and environment, health and social affairs, information technology as well as business - offer students a wide range of academic possibilities.

In addition, the subsidiary, the Burgenland University of Applied Sciences, is also renamed. In the future, it will bear the name University of Burgenland further education GmbH and continue to offer university teaching courses in the area of distance learning. The renaming is seen as an opportunity to further expand both education and the associated infrastructure and to promote employment in Burgenland.

The decision to renaming is not only a simple change of name, but also reflects the ambitious plans of the university to position themselves better on the international educational market and to enable graduates to recognize their degrees. You can get more information on this exciting topic here .
