Culture fun in Mattersburg: create and experience encounters

The Mattersburg Cultural and Education Association has been inspiring the Mattersburg region with a wide range of cultural offers for over five decades. Founded 51 years ago, the association has the goal of making art and culture accessible in all possible facets and thus creating a platform for encounters. Chairman Thomas Haffer comments on the vision and projects of the association and emphasizes the importance of culture in everyday life.

"Culture always takes place where people meet," explains Haffer. This could happen in the form of concerts, readings or informal rounds such as round tables. It is important to offer people space for cultural experiences in order to promote enrichment and exchange. The association actively invites everyone interested, because the association currently has around 200 members who revitalize the cultural life in the region through various events.

art accessible to everyone

The central task of the Mattersburg model is to bring culture to different rooms. According to Haffer, this shows that culture is by no means only limited to galleries or concert halls. "Culture are the encounters that make people - wherever they come together," he says. The association is particularly enthusiastic about combining art and cultural workers with an audience, such as with a reading in September with the renowned actress Barbara Wussow. To bring this kind of events to brilliant personalities from the great world of art into rural areas.

Last year the club celebrated its 50th birthday, an anniversary that was rich in memories and highlights. But this year the club remains active and sets an audiovisual focus that comes into play through readings and vernissages. This concept combines spoken word, music and visual elements to create a multi -dimensional cultural experience.

If you look into the future, the club is still planning many exciting events. A highlight is an upcoming vernissage in autumn, to which all those interested in art and culture are cordially invited. "We can't reveal too much yet, but we want to strengthen art in rural areas with our actions," announced Haffer. The Mattersburg model is passionate about promoting cultural encounters and thus creating a community in which art and togetherness are alive.
