A review of 12 years: Hermann Prem leaves the district administration
Jennersdorf. Hermann Prem, a well -known name in the district administration of Jennersdorf, will retire as a district captain after over a decade. The 12-year service ends at the end of November and he looks back with a smile at a time that was both challenging and fulfilling for him.
In conversation with the local media, Prem explained how important personal contact is in such a small district as Jennersdorf. He emphasizes that dealing with the population and the community representatives was always pleasant, which made the collaboration considerably easier.challenges of the office
A striking event in his tenure was the controversial approval process for the waste incineration plant in Heiligenkreuz in 2008. This planned facility met with massive rejection, both from the population and neighbors in Hungary, resulting in 6,000 objections and a comprehensive decision of 500 pages. "That was certainly one of the greatest challenges in my tenure," said Prem.
Another important project in which Prem was strongly challenged was the S7. Here Jennersdorf had to take care of water law permits and was faced with enormous pressure from the citizens' initiatives. "Everyone felt affected," said Prem, which made the entire process very complex.
The time during the Covid 19 pandemic also represented a special burden. Constant changes to the requirements meant that the authority was often under pressure, while the citizens were dependent on them as a point of contact. A critical moment arose in March 2021, when the municipality of Minihof-Liebau was considered due to an increasing number of infections. Fortunately, it did not happen.
In retrospect, Prem also expressed the desire for a certain continuity in the district administration. "I think a merging of our districts is off the table," he emphasized, while pointing out new developments in the cooperation of individual work areas. This is a sensible option that has already started in the past.and while Prem is saying goodbye to his office, the district council has already defined a successor. From December, Harald Dunkl, who previously worked as a deputy district, will take over the management.
For the future of the district administration, Prem recognizes some challenges, including the search for qualified staff and the effects of artificial intelligence, which could potentially burden the interpersonal connection in administration.
his time in office is not only characterized by internal challenges, but also by winding, personal anecdotes. Prem humorously remembers a call to a Good Friday when a man reported that he had lost his wedding ring - just to find out that he had already been lost two years ago.
A change that goes hand in hand with the change in the district administration could bring a breath of fresh air to the administration. Because according to Prem, his role will continue to be adapted to the next challenges of the future. The regional events also include the development of the eastern part of the S7, the extensive music gala with Martinigansl and the well-prepared fire brigade atmosphere from the Jennersdorf district.
