Billa in Heiligenkreuz shines in new splendor after renovation
After a three-month renovation phase, the Billa branch in Heiligenkreuz in the Lafnitztal has opened its doors again. Customers can look forward to a modernized sales area of around 800 m², which not only impressed with a bright glass facade, but also offers a large selection of fresh, seasonal and regional products. The sales director of Billa, Peter Gschiel, was pleased with the reopening and emphasized the variety of products and attractive prices that are now available to visitors.
Mayor Edi Zach also received the opening with open arms: "We can finally shop again in Heiligenkreuz," he said, noticing how often the citizens would have asked him when the market would reopen. The modernization measures underline the efforts of the company not only to work in an appealing ambience, but also to create added value for the community.
Advanced services and self -service health insurance companies
The branch has increased and also created five new jobs, which increases the number of employees to 23. New in this branch are the self -service cash registers that make the payment process considerably easier. In addition to the traditional cash registers, three self-checkout cash registers are available to customers, with two only card payments and a card payment and cash payments.
A heart of the converted system is the significantly expanded freshness area, which includes a wide selection of seasonal fruit and vegetables. Billa attaches particular importance to the regional origin of many products, which is very well received by customers. Manfred Neuherz, the market manager, pointed out how important it is to support small local providers. The range of products from the Wolf bakery from Güssing and regional producers from the area can be found in the range.
sustainability and energy efficiency
The recent renovations also attach great importance to environmental friendliness and energy efficiency. The entire lighting in the building takes place by LED technology and the waste heat of the refrigeration systems is used for heating. This enables over 40 percent of energy to save and the complete avoidance of fossil fuels in the operating process. In addition, an environmentally friendly refrigerant of CO2 based in normal and freezing areas is used for cold and frozen areas, which makes the market CO2-neutral in its operation.
An important point is also the integration of the new deposit system. The branch is already being prepared for the introduction of the new system, which will accept PET bottles and cans via a special return machine from January 1. The sales director appeals to customers not to crush the bottles and doses to ensure their correct return.
Another sign of social responsibility shows Billa through working with the Team Austria-Tafel and the Red Cross in Jennersdorf. Foods that can no longer be sold but are still edible are donated and thus help people in need in the region.
