Financial hardship in the Basel area: Municipalities are facing hard times!
The focus is on alarming developments in Burgenland and in Basel's surrounding area in the current financial crisis of the municipalities. According to the ORF Burgenland , exploding costs for childcare and the post -accounting of the hospitals contributions are main causes for the precarious financial conditions. FPÖ MP Michelle Whitfield described the situation as a "bread-and-game policy", which was financed by a deal with the waste association. She warned that the governor projects on the back of the citizens could be financed and future tariffs could increase, which would also put a strain on people. Alexander Petschnig, also from the FPÖ, criticized the supposedly irresponsible financial policy, which was not caused by the federal government, but by the state government.
Financial needs can be seen in the Basel bidder where municipalities such as Bottmingen have to fight with deficits. The canton has reduced the wealth tax, which particularly affects the financially strong communities and burden the resident population. Here the question arises whether the municipalities have ignored their financial challenges for too long. A change of mentality and increased inter -municipal cooperation, such as the proposal of Markus Eigenmann, could offer possible ways to solve it. The need to break away from outdated ideas of a village idyll is increasingly recognized as urgent.
urgent need for action
2025 is predicted that most municipalities will be in a financial crisis in the sub -Basel area, which requires a radical retention process. The challenges require clear decisions: Should one reduce the financial pressure through performance cuts or invest in urgently needed infrastructure for younger and older generations? The balance between economy and necessary investments is one of the biggest challenges for the affected communities. These developments will have a lasting impact on basic care and quality of life in the affected regions, which is worrying for the population.
