Peace light 2024: A spark of hope in dark times!

This year it was not transferred from Bethlehem, but from the pilgrimage church in Christkindl in the Steyr district, due to the Middle East conflict and restricted aircraft. The light was handed over to important representatives, including State Councilor Daniela Winkler and Mayor Thomas Steiner, at a ceremony at Eisenstadt train station. "It announces the message of Christmas peace," said Winkler, recalling that peace is an essential human necessity. The transmission of peace light was therefore not only an event for the region, but also a sign of hope in difficult times.

The light will continue to be distributed during the week to reach families throughout Burgenland. Diana Gasanova from the ÖBB emphasized the meaning of light as a symbol of solidarity and cooperation in a world characterized by conflicts. "Peace light inspires people to promote peace and common ground," she added. Nine -year -old Matthias Secklehner received the peace light from the hand of scouts from the region, which continues in Europe for decades. The light will be distributed in over 30 countries until Christmas Eve, where it will illuminate the hearts of people.
