Eisenstadt: Pioneer for Burgenland's climate -neutral future
The Burgenland state capital Eisenstadt recently served as the center for the energy transition. At a important meeting, the seventh climate dialogue, numerous politicians and experts came together, including the Minister of Climate Protection Leonore Gewessler and Governor Hans Peter Doskozil. Together with deputy governor Astrid Eisenkopf, they discussed the course that is necessary for sustainable energy future.
More than 30 companies, organizations and clubs were represented at this event. Some providers, such as Burgenland Energie AG and FH Burgenland, presented their strategies for the use of sustainable forms of energy. The meeting offered a platform for exchange and ideas that should contribute significantly to the future development of the region.
ambitions for climate neutrality
Governor Doskozil emphasized how important it was to involve the entire population in the process in order to achieve the goal of climate neutrality by 2030. "Our goal is to get everyone on board," he said, announcing plans for an energy community that should offer the population attractive conditions. This represents an important step towards the inclusion of citizens in the energy transition.
Astrid Eisenkopf, the deputy responsible for climate protection, added that Burgenland could play a pioneering role. According to her, the state was on a promising path to become the first in Austria until 2030. This would show that a successful energy transition is possible if all interests are observed.
Minister Gewessler emphasized the opportunities that arise from the energy transition. "Anyone who invests in renewable energies today not only does something for climate protection, but can also reduce their energy costs," she said. It is particularly important that social justice is taken into account in the funding program. Households with low incomes could benefit from up to 100 percent funding to exchange heating.
outlook on future developments
The climate dialogue in Eisenstadt shows that Burgenland is not only willing to actively work on the energy transition, but also take clear steps towards a climate-neutral future. With a variety of initiatives and a common approach, the region could become a model for other federal states. The development could not only have a local importance, but also serve as a national example and inspire other regions.
The concept of energy community is a central element that should offer citizens direct benefits. An increased cooperation between politics, business and the citizens is necessary to successfully master the challenges of the energy transition and at the same time to achieve the climate goals.
