Burgenland honors diversity: award ceremony to Lorenz Karall in Großwarasdorf
This year's awarding of the Lorenz Karall prices took place in Großwarasdorf, the home community of the former Burgenland governor. Every two years, outstanding work from the areas of democracy, science, art and journalism are recognized during this event. These awards are part of the commitment that Lorenz made for the creation and maintenance of the Burgenland after 1945. Karall has been particularly committed to the diversity of the political and cultural landscape in Burgenland, which is underlined by the establishment of a foundation that bears its name.
The foundation itself pursues the goal of promoting ethnic groups and their cultures and thus supports a multifaceted development in the region. This year the prices for work were awarded that were devoted to various topics, including the dialect of Eisenstadt, bilingual art lessons and the role of new media in the everyday life of Burgenland Croatians.
