Church in Müllendorf: Hope for quick renovation and return of the trade fairs

In the district of Eisenstadt-Umgebung, the old church in Müllendorf has been quiet for almost a year. The massive building damage that led to this closure forced the service to the cemetery hall. The Diocese of Eisenstadt accounts for several factors when analyzing the damage. The main causes include incorrect planning of the foundation, which, in combination with the poor load capacity of the soil, turns out to be problematic.

Stefan Salzer, the construction curator of the diocese, explained that a geologist has determined the low load capacity of the soil, which indicates long -term renovation measures. In order to make the church again accessible to the believers, however, it must be waiting for another expert opinion that provides more precise instructions.

Hope for early solutions

The municipality of Müllerndorf hopes that decisions regarding the necessary work will soon be made. The parish's economic council, Alfred Kovacs, emphasizes how urgently the experts need to be clarified in order not to keep the church closed. Before a meeting that is planned for the end of October, there are many questions in the room with regard to the future use of the church building.

While the extensive renovation is being maintained, the diocese also plans short -term security measures. An industrial climber was involved in securing the building from the outside, since facade parts have already crashed. In addition, network installations are carried out inside the church to ensure the safety of visitors.

The goal is to hold services in the church again by the end of the year. However, whether this goal can be achieved remains uncertain and depends on the upcoming decisions and other reports. For additional details there is a report on burgenland.orf available.
