Boris Becker: First insights into his dark prison time!

Tennis legend Boris Becker (57) looks back on a fateful time. In his new book "Inside. Winning - Losing - Starting Over", which will be published by Ullstein Verlag in September, he tells of his 231 days in British prisons in 2022, when he was sentenced to two and a half years in prison. This dark phase of his life shaped him and haunts him to this day with nightmares and painful memories. Becker describes his experiences as some of the most “painful” and sees writing as a path to healing. “Writing was my attempt to heal and find a way to make sense of it all,” he explained on Instagram, emphasizing that he now wants to open up “honestly, unfiltered and unmasked” to share his truth.

Insights into the deepest abysses

Becker reflects on the lessons he learned from his dramatic ups and downs. In his book, he not only wants to tell his personal story, but also reach out to people who have experienced similar struggles. “It's about how we endure losing everything that we thought defined us,” Becker continued. Despite his challenges, he has found new ways to rebuild himself and his life. After his prison sentence, he successfully took part in various projects, including the survival show “Bear Hunt – The Celebrity Hunt” and started a podcast together with ex-tennis professional Andrea Petković.

Becker has found happiness in his private life; He married Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro in September 2024 in Portofino, who also stood by him during the difficult time of his imprisonment. These twists and turns in his life stand in stark contrast to the dark memories that he now wants to deal with in his book crown reported. Openly confronting his past could be inspiring to many readers who also struggle with loss and recovery.
