Bernie Ecclestone sells legendary F1 collection-museum planned!
London, Großbritannien - The former Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone sold its extraordinary collection of 69 historical Formula 1 racing cars. The buyer is Mark Mateschitz, the heir of the Red Bull empire, who now directs the fortunes in the heart of this fascinating collection. According to Ecclestone, the collection, which will be estimated at a value of around 596 million euros, will be issued public in the future. "You will build something like a museum," said the 94-year-old. Mateschitz, the son of the Red Bull founder Dietrich Mateschitz, who died in 2022, is a long-time friend of Ecclestone and sees the cars as valuable contemporary witnesses in racing history.
In his collection there are real treasures, including Michael Schumacher's legendary Ferrari F2002, who won 11 out of 17 races in 2002 and Niki Laudas famous Brabham Bt46 "Fan Car". These cars are not only masterpieces of engineering, but also lively legends that embody Formula 1 history for 70 years. Ecclestone emphasizes the uniqueness of these vehicles: "These cars have written sports history and set technical milestones." At a time when he wants to concentrate on the essentials, Ecclestone with Mateschitz found the ideal successor who plans to even expand the collection and "enable the public to access the public in the near future", as Planetf1 reported.
The decision to sell the collection did not come unfounded. Ecclestone wanted to avoid burdening his wife with the legacy of this huge collection. He described the sale as "the best solution" so that the cars get into the "right hands". This is not just a business, but a continuation of history and passion in motorsport, which can now be passed on to new generations through Mateschitz. On October 28, Ecclestone will also appear in the London High Court to deal with the consequences of a scandal from the past in a different legal context, such as OE24 reported.
