The Baroque ensemble of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, which was founded in 1989, has earned an excellent reputation and already played with great success at the Bregenz Festival. With 16 CDs published now, the ensemble has won numerous lovers of classical music. This musical journey through time through baroque music is offered as part of the WL X project, a cooperation between the Viennese lines with various music groups, to make culture accessible to a broad audience and to address young people in particular.
concert details and arrival
The event takes place in the Remise Verkehrsmuseum, Fruethstraße 2, 1030 Vienna, a place that offers a unique ambience for musical performances. Since the tram line 18 currently does not drive due to modernization work, it is recommended to use the U3 subway line to the Schlachhausgasse station or the bus lines 77a and 80a and get out at the Ludwig-Koeßler-Platz stop.
The Viennese symphonists have a varied program in the 2023/24 season, which not only includes baroque music, but also many other styles. The new event locations include the Arnold Schönberg Center and the Austrian National Library, where chamber music evenings take place. This diverse offer aims to bring classical music closer to a wider audience and also set new accents.
music for all generations
The Viennese symphonists are very committed to making classical music accessible to everyone. Over 20 concerts and numerous workshops for children, families and adults are planned. Topics such as film and Christmas music as well as classic repertoire are on the program. In addition, an international tour will also be pending in 2024, in which the orchestra plays concerts in various European countries.
This initiative shows how important it is to present classical music not only in traditional forms, but also in innovative formats. In an age in which music is often consumed digitally, the live performance with its unique flair and emotional intensity remains unmatched.
