Arnautović changes to Red Stern: Record contract in Belgrade!
Belgrad, Serbien - Marko Arnautović decided to switch to Red Star Belgrade after long negotiations. After months of back and forth with Rapid Vienna, where his brother and consultant Danijel had negotiated, the agreement was finally reached with the Serbian club. These conversations took place under "strictest confidentiality", as the club boss Zvezdan Terzic emphasized. Arnautović will end up in Belgrade on Monday to complete the necessary medical tests and also sign a two -year contract that day.
The 36-year-old striker, whose contract with Inter Milan expired at the end of June, will be the best paid player in the club history of Red Stern Belgrade with a net salary of 2.5 million euros per year. This also means that he becomes the best earning professional in the history of the Serbian league. Terzic not only sees a valuable reinforcement on the pitch in Arnautović, but also believes that the player can lure the audience to the stadium and increase the performance of his teammates by 30 percent.
Details on the contract and the conditions
The overall package that Rapid Vienna had offered for Arnautović was three million euros gross per season, including higher bonus payments. However, these negotiations failed a week ago. Arnautović will not only be active as a player in his new club, but there will also be plans for a job in the club beyond his active time. Terzic is convinced that Arnautović pays attention to his health and can play at a high level for a few more years.
Roter Stern Belgrade opens the new season on Saturday against Javorn in the Marakana Stadium. On Tuesday, the club starts the Champions League qualification against Lincoln Red Imps from Gibraltar. Arnautović could make his debut for the Serbian record champions on July 29th.
