Aaron Karl wins Dancing Stars - 870,000 saw the gripping finale!
In the final gala of the 16th season of "Dancing Stars", Aaron Karl and his professional partner Kateryna Mizera prevailed against the competition and was crowned the new "Dancing Star". The show evening, which was broadcast on May 23, 2025 at 8:15 p.m. via ORF 1, was very popular. The first part of the evening began with the premiere of the "American Smooth", which all couples had to show. In this first dance, Aaron Karl and his partner scored 24 points from the jury, a result that Simone Lugner and her partner Danilo Campisi also achieved. However, Juror Baláz's Ekker expressed that he was expecting more bite from Karl. Paulus Bohl and Katharina Malek convinced with 27 points and went into the second part of the show with a slight lead.
The showdown and the emotions of the winners
In the second part, the couples had the freedom to present a dance of their choice. While Lugner chose the Paso Doble and received 26 points for it, Bohl danced his Jive and got the maximum number of 30 points. Karl, on the other hand, shone with a Paso doble and also 30 points. Unfortunately, Lugner and Campisi had to leave the stage before the final show dance. This was made emotionally by Karl and Mizera with an impressive appearance in which mirrors and fog were used.
Aaron Karl dedicated the "Dancing Stars" trophy to his partner Kateryna Mizera. At a moving moment, he expressed gratitude towards her, the ORF and the audience. Successful relay and future outlook
The 16th season achieved remarkable values for the ORF, especially in the target group of 12 to 29 year olds, where it reached the best value since 2008 with a market share of 30 percent. A total of 4.257 million people switched to Austria at least once. The streaming use of the relay was also high, with around 920,000 net views, which corresponds to a total usage volume of 41.5 million minutes.
Because of the Eurovision Song Contest, "Dancing Stars" will pause next year. From May 30, 2025, however, the ORF will broadcast a number of programs on the topic of "70 years of television", moderated by the finalists Aaron Karl and Paulus Bohl, which are still firmly anchored in the entertainment scene. The ORF has also announced that they will provide content around the dance competition in their digital platforms.
