Prices for nature conservation: St. Pölten honors committed projects!
Museum Niederösterreich, St. Pölten, Österreich - On December 4, 2024, an important event will be celebrated in St. Pölten: the awarding of the Josef Schöffel promotion prices. This award, which was launched by the state of Lower Austria, recognizes outstanding achievements in nature conservation. FPÖ State Council Mag. Susanne Rosenkranz announced that a total of ten projects will be awarded in a solemn ceremony in the Lower Austria Museum, including three nature parks. Josef Schöffel, the namesake of the price, is considered a pioneer in the fight for the preservation of the Vienna Woods and thus makes the importance of nature conservation clear.
nature conservation in Lower Austria
The importance of nature conservation has changed over the years. As Rosary noticed, the focus of the protection of individual objects has shifted to the preservation of entire habitats. With more than 1,300 designated natural monuments and twenty exemplary nature parks, Lower Austria shows a model for sustainable nature conservation. The visual component is also central: in nature park schools, the children learn to understand and respect nature through practical projects and excursions, which is an important basis for future environmental awareness. In addition, Rosary encouraged the population to actively participate in the nature conservation initiatives.
All of these measures underline the concern to make nature conservation locally with various actors. Local farmers, municipalities and clubs are included in the planning and implementation of nature conservation projects in order to ensure broader acceptance and long -term success. These participatory approaches have proven to be effective, since they are not "down" from above, but arise from the region itself, as is demonstrated by the possibilities and initiatives in the nature parking, such as biological diversity emphasizes.
