Donkey adventure: daycare children learn responsibility in a playful way!

Heusweiler, Deutschland - On December 26, 2024, a group of children from the inclusive City day care center in Saarbrücken visited the Donelzentrum Neumühle near Heusweiler. The trip took place with the Saarbahn, and before the first contact with the donkeys, Kathrin Bach, the operator of the donkey courtyard, explained the rules of conduct. The children should act friendly, quietly and slowly, and it was forbidden to pull the donkeys on the ears or tail or to ride them on them, like the Saarbrücker Zeitung reported.

With bright yellow warning vests, the children waited in front of the gate while the donkeys gathered and ate in the warm light. The excursion was the first of three days when the children should be closer to the respectful use of animals. Many of the children had little reference to nature before and did not know any free -running animals. This initiative was helped by the SZ Accountance Association! Funded. During the excursion, the children could not only stroke the donkeys, but also lead on a walk, with each donkey being accompanied by only two children. Donel Antonio, who is 15 years old, had previously served as a circus island.

During the stay, the children also had the opportunity to decorate the donkeys with flowers and then enjoy a refreshment. The children also fed rabbits that were also saved from poor posture. In the inclusive daycare center in the Mühlenviertel, 75 children are currently being looked after, including 12 with special needs. The concept of the daycare center promotes a prejudice -free growth of the children. Excursions to the donkey courtyard are part of the "donkey's ear" project.

Kathrin Bach, who runs the donkey center, once started with only two donkeys. Today a total of twelve donkeys live there, including Antonio, Julius and Bobo. Their task is to offer donkeys a better life, with some donkeys being saved from poor posture, as sr.de reported. Donkeys have been described as prudent and wise, in contrast to escape animals such as horses. The meeting place is also a place for different groups, including children, seniors and people with impairments that learn how to feed and care for. Many of the activities promote respect and prepare the children for possible professions.
