Advent in Dornbirn: Hope and joy with every step to the crib!
At the beginning of the Advent season, the hospital chaplain herald Sandra Mathis in the Dornbirner hospital that heralds a contemplative phase. In an impressive reflection, she tells of a conversation with her children, which she led during the biscuit baking: "Mom, you don't really look forward to Christmas at all?" She suggested this question to think and aroused the memories of her own pregnancy with Jesus. This time was full of hope for her, even if the circumstances were anything but romantic. Mathis gives the idea that Jesus is present in our everyday life. "I want to take this idea into Advent," says the pastor, who hopes to take many people with this way of joy and hope, such as Vol.at reported.
a Christmas service in the stable
At Christmas Eve, a very special Christmas service will be celebrated on Christmas Eve in the Archer Zoo. At 4 p.m. Pastor Christoph Huppenbauer and numerous visitors gather in the middle of the animals - between sheep, goats, pigs, pigs and donkeys to celebrate the birth of Christ. Huppenbauer, who is heading this event for the tenth time, sees a way to get closer to the secret of Christmas. "In the middle of animals, in a crib, the Christ child was born," he explains. Around 500 people, including many children, take part in this special event, which is given by the presence of the animals at a quiet and solemn moment, such as "https://www.nordkirche.de/nachrichten/nachrichten-detail/heiligbabend-weihnachten-im-stall-arche-warder/"> nordkirche.deAlthough the animals are not mentioned in the classic Christmas stories in the Luke Gospel, they are now an integral part of tradition. The pastor explains that Maria and Josef found no place in the hostel and were therefore looking for shelter in a stable, which suggests the assumption that there were also animals there. For Huppenbauer it is a strong sign that Jesus came to the outcasts: "The message 'peace on earth' also includes the animals and the life of nature." The service in the stable not only offers a spiritual experience, but also a space to celebrate the connection between humans and animals during Christmas.
