Zelensky attacks Trump’s disinformation room - danger to Ukraine
Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj has made a clear announcement in the so-called “disinformation room” that Russia created around US President Donald Trump. However, he could have endangered future American support for his country. Selenskyj was not ready to stand by and vice president JD Vance a neutral attitude towards Russian invasion in Ukraine, and broke with the established diplomacy that is normally dedicated to respect and submissiveness towards Trump.
The conflict in the White House
In the blatant contrast, the encounters that Trump had with two other world leaders this week were. French President Emmanuel Macron and the British Prime Minister Keir Strander tried to get Trump to deal with Selenskyj. Both relied on flattering, with Macron reminded of Trump's visit to Notre Dame and Konmer brought a letter from King Charles.
Selenskyj was in the White House to sign an agreement on earth metals with the United States, which Trump wanted to access in exchange for continuing military support. But Selenskyj apparently could not tolerate a revisionist historiography in which Putin is not portrayed as a villain.
The dispute escalates
Trump accused Selenskyj on Twitter, "to poker with the Third World War". The subsequent change of word in the Oval Office, ahead of journalists, was an unprecedented spectacle in front of the TV cameras in the White House. Trump later dismissed Selenskyj from the White House and published an explanation on social media. In it he wrote: "President Selenskyj is not ready for peace when America is involved because he believes that our influence gives him a great advantage in the negotiations."
The Americans are not used to seeing Trump so visibly - and certainly not to the leader of a democracy that supports the United States with military aid.
criticism from Washington
vance also commented and argued that Putin's conviction during the bidges had only led to the years of the war. "The way to peace and prosperity may only lead through diplomacy," Vance defended Trump's obvious trust in Putin.
Selenskyj pointed out that Putin has already broken agreements in the past. While Trump referred to an agreement from 2019, this was hit at a time when Trump was faced with the first impeachment process because he had held help for Ukraine and put pressure on the Ukrainian to initiate an examination against bidies.
displeasure about the lack of gratitude
Both Vance and Trump accused Selenskyj not to show enough gratitude for the support of the USA, and criticize bidges. Selenskyj explained that he worked with bidges because he won the elections and was President of the United States. Despite his attempts to express more gratitude during the Oval Office appearance, Selenskyj was caught up by Trump. Trump claimed that the war had ended in "two weeks" without American military aid and exceeded the amount of US aid to Ukraine, which is less than 200 billion dollars by speaking of $ 350 billion.
Putin's point of view
When Selenskyj Trump interrupted, he accused him of taking over Putin's line of argument that the war would have ended in three days without American support. It is obvious that Trump has an aversion to Selenskyj and feels connected to Putin. "Putin went through a lot with me," said Trump. "He went through a false witch trial in which they used him and Russia."
reactions in Russia and Ukraine
Official Trump's arguments used in Russia and praised the US President for the fact that he had approved Selenskyj. Top politician Dmitry Medvedev said on X: "The insolent pig dog has finally received an appropriate rub in the Oval Office and @Raldonaldtrump is right: The regime in Kiev 'Pokert with the Third World War'."Selenskyj, on the other hand, once again thanked X for the support of the USA and Trump's visit as if the scandal had never happened. "Thank you America, thank you for your support, thank you for this visit. Thank you @potus, the congress and the American people. Ukraine needs just and permanent peace, and we are working on this."
Future of support for Ukraine
The damage could be irreparable. Even supporters of Ukraine in the GOP, like Senator Lindsay Graham from South Carolina, question whether Selenskyj can be a reliable partner. Graham said: "I don't know if we can ever do business with Selenskyj again." This controversial chapter between Selenskyj and Trump raises questions about the future support of the United States for Ukraine.
