Digital relationships: curse or blessing for love?
Digital relationships: curse or blessing for love?
The digital world has revolutionized our relationships, but not without challenges. According to a recent report by Dolomitenstadt , many young couples suffer from the pressure of social media. Instagram and Co. not only bring inspiration, but also comparisons that endanger self -esteem and satisfaction in relationships. An example: A young woman, 21 years old and in an apparently unfortunate relationship, is constantly confronted with idealized pictures of other partnerships. These insights can unrealistically screw up your own expectations of the relationship. Around 30 percent of men between the ages of 18 and 29 state that their partners place excessive demands on the relationship through social media.
The dark side of digital love
Another study by Philipp Armin Krämer and the Rhein Neckar research institute describes from a well -founded perspective on how social media can lead to jealousy. Thirty -six of the young people surveyed between the ages of 14 and 20 have admitted to secretly checking their partners' profiles in order to find possible "suspicious" contacts. These constant uncertainties mean that many relationships come under pressure, since users often lose the feeling of control over their partnerships. At the same time, 73 percent of the respondents use social media to get inspiration for joint activities, which shows that the platforms can also have positive pages.
A central topic is the comparison pressure. Around 35 percent of the study participants stated that they find their relationship compared to the idealized representations of other couples as less valuable. The constant confrontation with these filtered moments increases self -doubt and can cause tensions in the partnership. Nevertheless, there is also good news: Many couples find confirmation and exchange on social media, which helps to deal with their own challenges. The key to a fulfilled relationship seems to be in the conscious and reflected handling of digital networking, so that the advantages can outweigh and conflicts can be prevented as the study results show.
