In the early morning of October 16, 2024, at exactly 5:55 a.m., a traffic accident occurred in Frankenthal that injured a motorcyclist. The incident happened on Eisenbahnstrasse when a 59-year-old driver, also from Frankenthal, turned left at the junction with Schmiedgasse. He overlooked a 28-year-old motorcyclist who was traveling in the opposite direction and heading towards his destination on Heßheimer Straße.
The collision was so violent that the motorcyclist suffered serious injuries. He was immediately taken to a hospital where he needed medical care. In addition, both vehicles involved were no longer drivable after the accident and then had to be towed away. The damage to both vehicles amounted to an estimated amount of 14,000 euros, indicating that the accident had a significant impact on the vehicles.
Police are looking for witnesses
The Frankenthal police station has started an investigation into the incident and is asking possible witnesses to come forward.
