A couple aged 51 and 55 became victims of a shocking attempted robbery on November 2nd, 2024, around 6:15 p.m. in Ganderkesee-Stenum. The incident occurred on Trendelbuscher Weg when a perpetrator, disguised as a parcel delivery person with a package in his hand, knocked on the door. Meanwhile, his accomplice was lurking hidden at the entrance to the apartment building.
When the 55-year-old man opened the door, the perpetrators didn't need an invitation. With a gun in their hand, they tried to force him back into the apartment. But the brave owner of the apartment reacted quickly and slammed the door with all his might, which meant he was able to keep the intruders away for the time being. But the danger was not over yet: the perpetrators hastily fled towards Bahnhofstrasse, leaving behind the couple, who were fortunately uninjured but completely shocked.
Intensive manhunt
The police responded immediately and launched a large-scale manhunt with service dogs and a police helicopter. So far, all efforts to catch the perpetrators have been unsuccessful. The men are between 30 and 40 years old, with the first being described as being around 175-180 cm tall, wearing a black and yellow top that is reminiscent of the look of the “Deutsche Post” and a black baseball cap. His accomplice is an imposing figure of around 190 cm, slim and dressed completely in dark clothing.
The Wildeshausen police are asking the public for help. Witnesses who can provide information about the incident or the perpetrators are urged to call 04431/941-0. Any clue could be crucial in putting these ruthless criminals behind bars.
