Police achieved a shocking result in a Europe-wide inspection of heavy goods vehicles last week! In the period from November 11th to 17th, the trucks were the focus of the officials, and the results are alarming: almost one in four trucks was found to have committed serious violations!
Over 160 vehicles were examined closely, and the data is explosive: there were complaints about a total of 35 vehicles. The police counted 63 different violations - a true level of disregard for the rules! Speeding was just the tip of the iceberg, with 16 cases. In 17 other cases, serious technical defects were identified, with five of these defects being so serious that the drivers were no longer allowed to continue driving.
Criminal drivers behind the wheel
What is particularly frightening is that in two cases the drivers themselves were under drugs while driving the heavy trucks. The inspectors didn't shy away: They filed reports and banned further travel here too. These controls are not only important, they are absolutely necessary to ensure safety on our roads. The results clearly show that a lot still needs to be done in heavy goods traffic!
