Robin van Persie new trainer at Feyenoord Rotterdam

The legendary football icon Robin van Persie officially took over the position of the coach at Feyenoord Rotterdam. The 41-year-old former striker, who crowned his career at both Arsenal and Manchester United, returned to his former club, where he spent both his first and his last professional career. Van Persie, who previously worked for the league competitor Heerenveen, has signed a contract until the summer of 2027, as Feyenoord announced on Sunday. And the challenges are already waiting: In the Champions League round of 16, the traditional club will meet Inter Milan in the coming month.

As a player, van Persie scored an impressive 46 goals and gave 16 templates for Feyenoord and is supported by René Hake as an assistant coach. Hake came from Manchester United, where he previously worked as an assistant to Erik Ten Hag. Feyenoords managing director Dennis Te Kloese was pleased with the return of the club idol: "Robin is a real club icon and understands exactly what it takes to achieve results." Feyenoord recently had the interim coach Pascal Bosschaart at the top after Brian Priske was released two weeks ago. Bosschaart led the team in the Champions League play-off against AC Milan to promotion, but will now return to his role as a coach of the U21. Nevertheless, the team will compete in the Eredivisia against Nec Nijmegen on March 1st, while they are currently in fourth place in the league, 14 points behind the league leader Ajax, such as The athletic reported.
