Vienna rolls out the Preferably in Vienna” health campaign!

On April 1, 2025, the Vienna Health Association launched the information campaign “Preferably in Vienna”. This initiative, launched on February 20, 2025, aims to underline the central role of the health network in the city's healthcare delivery. City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker emphasizes the continuous investments in medical care, which is always offered at the highest level in Vienna. The campaign is not only a response to the needs of the population, but also a continuation of the “Part of something big” recruiting campaign from last year.

The campaign measures include eye-catching motifs that will be presented on two trams in the districts of Hernals and Favoriten. These include messages such as “Becoming a mother” and “Back to life”, which illustrate the variety of medical offers in Vienna. The central message is that the Viennese population is always well looked after.

Campaign provides information about the health offering

The information campaign answers basic questions about medical care: Where can I get medical help? What care options are available and why are patients in good hands? In order to disseminate this information, the Vienna Health Association relies on both digital and classic communication channels. The topics are diverse, from obstetrics to caring for people with dementia.

The campaign aims to provide the Viennese population with comprehensive information about medical help and care offers. For example, an advertising subject could have the slogan "Become forgetful. Preferably in Vienna." wear that refers to the WIGEV nursing home website.

Growth in the healthcare sector

Another success highlighted as part of this campaign is the increase in new jobs in the Vienna Health Network, which increased by 6.2 percent last year. A total of 3,368 new employees were hired. This is a sign of the high attractiveness of Vienna's healthcare sector, which received over 12,000 applications in the clinical area last year.

In order to ensure the quality of care in the future, a billion-dollar modernization program was launched. This program includes the modernization of public hospitals, the expansion of private care and the creation of additional training positions for health professions. Investments totaling 3.3 billion euros from the Vienna city budget are planned by 2030 to further expand the clinics and create competence centers.

In addition to medical care, the focus is on training: 16,000 new nursing staff are to be trained by 2030 to meet future needs. Mayor Michael Ludwig emphasized that health and care have top priority and that the best possible care should be accessible to all citizens.

Sustainable health strategies and quality of life

Vienna pursues a holistic health policy that also includes preventative measures to improve the quality of life of the population. A comprehensive strategy includes the expansion of cycle paths and the creation of healthy living environments. The “House of Health” on Schlesingerplatz will in future bundle all occupational health services, while the women’s health center FEM Med will offer individual advice and training for women.

In summary, the information campaign “Preferably in Vienna” not only shows the high quality of healthcare, but also supports recruiting in the healthcare sector and reinforces Vienna's status as an up-and-coming healthcare metropolis.
