Diversity in old age: Exhibition shows life paths by LSBT*personnel
Main-Kinzig-Kreis. An exciting hiking exhibition with the title "I have always felt special" has opened your gates and draws your eye! By mid-December, visitors can discover the moving life stories of seven lesbians, gays and trans*people between the ages of 64 and 85 by mid-December. On impressive roll-ups, these brave personalities are presented with photos and personal texts that document their unique life paths.
The exhibition aims to promote understanding and acceptance for the diversity of lifestyles and gender identities in old age. Many of the portrayed have had difficult life paths, shaped by discrimination and traumatic experiences. The former paragraph 175, the gay law enforcement, and custody delights among lesbian women are just a few of the challenges that these people had to master. The fear of authorities and medical institutions is often deeply rooted and influences their lives to this day.
Insights and questions from the vernissage
At the vernissage, the trainees of the academy were well prepared and asked the three portrayed, Corry (79), Marie-Luise (85) and Sue (79), numerous questions. Corry and Marie-Luise, who have been married for 30 years, received enthusiastic applause, while Sue reported on their brave outing in retirement. "As soon as the face is warped on the subject, many no longer dare to say something about themselves," said Corry and expressed their confidence for the future in view of the positive reactions in the hall.
