Ukrainian children suffer from the war: SOS Children's Village brings hope!
Around 2000 children in Ukraine currently live without parental care, due to the ongoing war. The constant fear of explosions and loud noises shapes your everyday life, especially in the east of the country, where the need for stability and security is particularly high.
The organization offers urgently needed psychological and psychosocial support, including speech therapies. Christian Rudisch, the managing director of SOS Children's Village, emphasizes the far-reaching effects of the war, which also affect children in Austria, for example in the form of anxiety and cloudy future prospects. The organization has been active in Ukraine since 2003 and has already supported over 416,000 people.

The mental health of the children is the focus of the efforts. Many of them had to flee at life at life or have been in cellars while bombs fell. These experiences leave deep mental wounds. Frequent psychological disorders, such as post-traumatic stress disorders and depression, concern many children, such as SOS-Kinderdörfer . Since February 24, 2022, the beginning of the current conflict, the SOS children's villages in Ukraine have provided help over 273,000 people, including more than 17,000 children and parents who received psychological support. Mobile teams of psychologists provide help in remote areas and visit schools to reach the children directly in their environment.
