City of Vienna distinguishes refugees: a new anthology!

Wien, Österreich - On February 12, 2025, the city of Vienna presents a significant publication that focuses on the often overlooked needs of women and girls with a story of escape. In addition to 31 contributions from 39 authors, including prominent voices such as the migration researcher Judith Kohlenberger, the anthology addresses the challenges and approaches to women's health and integration. Health City Councilor Peter Hacker emphasizes: "Asylum is a human right" and underlines the importance of assisting refugees in an increasingly critical social atmosphere. The anthology not only offers scientific insights, but also personal experience reports, for example by the doctor and activist Mireille Ngosso and the journalist Maynat Kurbanova, who share their stories about the challenges at the beginning of the new in Austria.

The anthology is part of the series "Women*Health*Vienna" and can be ordered free of charge by Viennese from the Vienna Program for Women's Health. In addition to the printed version, it is also available digitally. The head of the Program for Women's Health, Kristina Hametner, emphasizes that the experiences and needs of refugee women have been intensively documented since the 2015/2016 escape movement. This expertise now flows into the new publication, which also represents the approaches of the connected organizations.
