Record patient in Lower Saxony: Companies at the limit!
Hannover. An alarming trend in Lower Saxony: The sick leave has reached the highest brands of the previous year! In the third quarter of this year, the number of sick leave increased by an incredible 11.4 percent compared to the same period last year, as DAK health revealed. This year's summer continued the sad series, even if the average duration of the sick reports could be reduced.
The data show an alarming picture: Out of over 200,000 DAK insured persons, sick leave in Lower Saxony was 5.1 percent. Every day between July and September, an average of 51 out of 1,000 employees were sick. For comparison: The nationwide sick leave was only minimally better at 5.0 percent, which is unusually high for these summer months - especially at temperatures that invite you to vacation.

The reasons behind the numerous shortages are particularly worrying. Muscle and skeletal diseases, especially back pain, are the main cause and led to 94 shortage of 100 employees in summer- this is more than the nationwide average of 88 days! Mental illnesses and respiratory diseases such as bronchitis also contribute to the frighteningly high number of sick leave.
The high number of sick leave is another lightly on the weakening economy in the region. DAK head of state Dirk Vennekold warns: "The high sick leave is an additional risk of the success of the company." A fundamental debate about the causes is urgently needed, according to the DAK federal chief Andreas Storm. "Quick shots such as the demand for the abolition of the telephone sick leave do nothing - neither those affected nor the companies." In Lower Saxony, around 530,000 people are insured with the DAK. The situation remains tense and full of challenges for employees and companies alike.
