Offenbach is taking a new path: Health for all – strong together!
The city of Offenbach has taken a decisive step to strengthen health promotion and prevention. As part of the annual conference of the Health Equal Opportunities Coordination Office (KGC) of the Hessian Working Group for Health Promotion e.V. (HAGE), Offenbach officially joined the “Health for All” partner process. The event took place on September 5th in Marburg and attracted numerous important players in health promotion in Hesse.
Together with the Groß-Gerau district, which joined at the same time, the city representatives received a certificate from Dr. Katharina Böhm, the managing director of HAGE. Dr. Bernhard Bornhofen, head of the Offenbach Health Department, and Christine Langenbach, head of the Coordination Office for Health Promotion and Prevention, accepted the honor on behalf of the public. During the ceremony, Dr. Bornhofen highlights the commitment of Ms. Langenbach, whose fame now extends far beyond Offenbach.
Commitment to health and equal opportunities
Mayor and Head of Health Sabine Groß emphasized the importance of this step in her speech: "Joining the 'Health for All' partner process shows our clear commitment to sustainably promoting the health of our citizens. Our goal is to give everyone - regardless of their social situation - equal opportunities to live a healthy life." This initiative aims to intensify cooperation between the municipalities and to tailor health services specifically to the needs of the Offenbach population.
The “Health for All” partner process has the potential to have a lasting impact on health promotion not only in Offenbach, but throughout Hesse. By promoting the exchange of knowledge and best practices between participating municipalities, it enables Offenbach to learn from the experiences of other cities and districts. This innovative strength can help to effectively overcome current health challenges and increase the quality of life in urban areas.
“By joining the partner process, we gain valuable resources and also access to a strong network,” added Groß. She pointed out the particular relevance of equal health opportunities, especially for people in difficult social situations. These groups often have limited access to health-promoting offers, which shows an urgent need for action. “We have to start and develop new strategies in order to coordinate these offers as best as possible and to further develop them in a targeted manner,” continues Groß.
