Healthy eating in class: How schools can shape our children!

Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - On March 21, 2025, the World House Economic Day will take place under the motto "Think of consumption". The aim is to raise awareness of sustainable consumption and the responsible use of food. The working group of Austrian farmers demands that nutritional and consumption formation as an integral part of school lessons for 10 to 14 year olds to help younger generations to make sound decisions in their consumption behavior. "Only through well-founded knowledge and practical experiences can young people learn to make sustainable consumer decisions," explains federal farmer Irene Neumann-Hartberger, as in a Online-Live talk recently emphasized. In view of the increasing number of nutritional diseases of civilization, comprehensive nutritional formation is of great social importance.

The seminar farmers use age -appropriate teaching materials and digital formats to promote awareness of the origin of food and the value of domestic products. "We have to start with future-oriented consciousness formation in young people," says Neumann-Hartberger, and thus creates the basis for a sustainable future. The development of competencies for the right decision for your own health in a world full of fast food and convenience products is in full swing and requires support from competent educators and structured curricula.
