Surprise egg with drugs: 40-year-old shocks 13-year-old in Tyrol!

In the Kufstein district of Tyrol, a 40-year-old Austrian man was reported after he handed a 13-year-old girl a surprise egg containing cannabis at a bus stop. The incident occurred on September 11, 2025, when the girl met the man at the bus stop in Rattenberg. In addition to the cannabis, the contents of the surprise egg also included the man's phone number. This was reported by 5min.at.

The girl's father finally became aware of the drugs and drug paraphernalia that were found in his daughter's room on September 17, 2025. This threatening incident led to him informing the police, which initiated an investigation into the 40-year-old man.

Investigations and drug discoveries

The police's actions quickly confirmed suspicions against the 40-year-old. During a search of his residence, officers discovered both cannabis and cultivation equipment. The man was then reported to the public prosecutor. There is currently no evidence of any other students affected, but investigations are ongoing to gain a complete picture of the situation.

The incident sheds light on the increasing problems with drug abuse among young people. According to the current Health Report 2024, cannabis is still the most frequently used illegal drug in Austria. Around a fifth of 15 to 64 year olds have already had experience with it. The alarming statistics show that the use of illegal drugs continues to be a serious issue in society.

Rising problems with drug use

Of particular concern is the increase in fatal overdoses, which has occurred for the third year in a row. 256 people died due to overdoses in 2023, with the average age of those who died being 34 years old. A quarter of these deaths occur in younger age groups, particularly those under 25 years of age.

The impact on society as a whole is increased by new forms of addiction, such as the use of nicotine products among young people. According to the report, it shows that 3% of 15-year-olds use nicotine pouches daily, and for male teenagers the figure is as high as 5.1%. These new products have become fashionable as lifestyle items, the long-term health effects of which are still largely unexplored.

The police and authorities are called upon to take preventative measures and counteract the increasing drug problem. Concern for the safety and health of young people must be a top priority in the coming months and years.
