Justice scandal: Afghan belt thug seriously injures 16-year-old!
A horrific incident occurred on Friday evening in Horn, where a 35-year-old Afghan man, known as Shafiqullah A., attacked a 16-year-old boy and a 53-year-old passer-by with a belt who rushed to help. The two young people had previously only pretended that they wanted to clean up a seemingly abandoned shopping bag. This naive plan ended brutally when the attacker, whose criminal history remains incomprehensible, struck without warning while the teenagers were eating kebabs. As oe24 reported, the 53-year-old suffered a broken collarbone and the 16-year-old had to undergo emergency surgery because a broken belt buckle was stuck in his head. Fortunately, the boy is now out of danger.
The incident not only sparked outrage, but also exposed a judicial scandal. Despite his criminal past, Shafiqullah A. was not taken into custody and was able to pose calmly on a park bench and laugh at passers-by that same evening after the attack, as was reported. The politician Udo Landbauer expressed shock that the high costs of accommodating a “measure prisoner” had to be borne by taxpayers while their own population suffered from rising inflation. “This is unjustifiable and unacceptable,” he complained. The courts and authorities are now being criticized because the Afghan man brutally attacked the boy and the honorable helper, even though he had already come to light a week ago for another incident in which he harassed two girls.
He is now being investigated for intentional grievous bodily harm, possibly even attempted murder. Although he is already registered as a rejected asylum seeker, Shafiqullah A. does not seem to be afraid of any corresponding punishment or deportation. The legal decisions that allowed him to remain in society after several crimes cast a dark light on the legal system and the responsibility of the authorities in Austria. This case now urgently calls for a rethinking of asylum and security policy OTS and oe24 reported.
