Triple robbery: Viennese pensioner dies on the street after attack!
In a shattering incident on October 31, 2024, three Romanians of the robbery were transferred to a elderly Viennese pensioner. The 86-year-old man who was traveling with a rollator was followed in the Kettenbrückengasse underground station and finally attacked at Meidlinger Hauptstraße. The attackers stole 4,000 euros, who were intended as a Christmas present for his daughter. Tragically, the pensioner died of the process and could therefore not testify himself how krone.at reported.
In court, one of the accused, while the other two, 38 and 45 years old, confessed to the allegations and advocated a chance. Nevertheless, the court saw clear evidence that occupied the complicity of all accused. Ultimately, all three men were convicted: the oldest to four years in prison and the other two to three and a half years. The surveillance cameras of the Viennese lines provided decisive evidence of the crime that is increasingly difficult to pursue due to the preventive measures of the judiciary.
foundation of a community
While past crimes are in the spotlight, there are also historical achievements of the Romanian community in Vienna. In the early 1900s, the former General Alexandru Lupu campaigned for the foundation of a "Romanian colony", which brought together the Romanian families living in Vienna. These efforts led to the foundation of the "Romanian club" in 1902 and later to recognize a parish from 1921-1923. The chapel of this club, which fell as "the Sistine Chapel of the Viennese Romanians", still houses important religious ceremonies, such as rumkirche.at documented.
The history of this community shows how cultures can mix and enrich each other, even in the face of modern challenges. While the courts are busy with the condemnation of the perpetrators, the memory of the positive gathering of community and identity remains undistorted. The case of the inactive pensioner continues to warn over the dangers that are exposed to vulnerable people in our society.
