Anders Behring Breivik, the well-known Norwegian right-wing terrorist, has again applied for early release from prison, but this was rejected by the district court of Ringerike, Asker and Bærum. Loud Small newspaper The court saw no reduced risk of reoffending, even after more than a decade since his conviction in 2012. Breivik, responsible for the deaths of 77 people, continues to receive the maximum preventive detention provided for in Norway.
The judges also reported that Breivik had taken part in rehabilitative measures, but that these had not yet led to any measurable success. A new psychiatric evaluation concluded that Breivik was not mentally ill. This information was provided by Mirror confirmed. Breivik, who now calls himself Fjotolf Hansen, remains a dangerous prisoner whose early release is out of the question under current law.
This decision reflects ongoing concerns about Breivik's ideology and himself, which does not appear to have changed despite his participation in relevant programs. His application was not the first - in 2022 he failed in his first attempt to be released early. The Norwegian judiciary therefore remains determined to put the security of society above Breivik's demands.
