Thomas Sageder becomes assistant coach at SK Rapid: A new wind in the coaching team!
SK Rapid has signed Thomas Sageder as its new assistant coach. This was officially announced today, June 2, 2025. Sageder will strengthen Peter Stöger's coaching team and will receive a contract that runs until summer 2027. The 41-year-old football coach most recently worked as head coach at LASK and led 37 competitive games there. Before his time in Linz, Sageder gained experience at several clubs, including FC Liefering, Blau-Weiß Linz, SV Ried and VfL Wolfsburg.
Rapid sports director Markus Katzer was extremely positive about Sageder's signing and highlighted his extensive experience and character traits. These positive assessments are complemented by Stöger's view of the interpersonal relationships in the coaching team. “These are crucial for our mutual success,” emphasized the coach.
A strong coaching team
Peter Stöger's coaching team remains largely unchanged and consists of several experienced coaches:
- Thomas Sageder (Co-Trainer)
- Stefan Kulovits (Assistenztrainer)
- Daniel Seper (Assistenztrainer)
- Jürgen Macho (Torwart-Coach)
- David Lechner (Athletik-Trainer)
- Julian Helml (Reha- und Individualtrainer)
- Daniel Schmitt und Linus Braun (Analysten)
Luca Pavlović, who served as interim assistant coach, received praise for his work, but will not remain part of the new coaching staff.
Thomas Sageder was born on September 5, 1983 and has a broad coaching career that began in 2007. Among other things, he was an assistant coach at Red Bull Salzburg and also worked internationally, for example at Red Bull Ghana.
