Eva Schulev-Steindl: BOKU management confirmed for another four years!
The University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences Vienna (BOKU) has set an important course with a unanimous decision. Univ.Prof. Mag. Mag. Dr.iur. Eva Schulev-Steindl, who has served as rector since her term began on February 1, 2022, was reappointed for a further four-year period until January 2030. The University Council and the Senate expressed their unreserved confidence in the successful management of the university. “This continuity is extremely important for the implementation of new structures and challenges,” explained Josef Plank, Chairman of the University Council, and praised her successes to date in leading the institution.
Already in October, the members of the Senate voted for a second term in office for Eva Schulev-Steindl. In a total of two Senate meetings, the Rector's achievements and planned projects from her first term in office were thoroughly discussed. According to Senate Chairman Roland Ludwig, the broad support reflects the university community's trust in Schulev-Steindl's abilities. With her training in business administration and law as well as her expertise in environmental law issues, she has developed BOKU into one of the leading research centers in Austria, as highlighted on the official BOKU website.
Challenges and visions
Since returning to BOKU, where she was previously a member of the Faculty of Law, Eva Schulev-Steindl has increasingly focused on climate protection issues. Among other things, she founded the research center for climate protection law “ClimLaw: Graz” and is actively involved in the Commission for Climate and Air Quality of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. Its goal is not only to position the university as an educational institution, but also to promote it as an attractive partner for research and industry, which is intended to strengthen BOKU in the international science and research landscape boku.ac.at reported.
