Austrians show heart: 17.6 million euros for needy families!
In the contemplative period of Christmas, the Austrians once again showed their generosity. On December 24th during the donation marathon of ORF Upper Austria, an impressive 827,000 euros were collected in the State studio at the Europaplatz in Linz. Prominent guests, including the Paralympics silver medalist Florian Brungraber, supported the campaign, while thousands of spectators watched the live broadcast and picked up the peace light. These donations flow directly to family, children and people with disabilities, which underlines the importance of the campaign, which earned a total of around 17.6 million euros this year, as ORF Oberösterreich reports .
The Trend to give
In addition to the impressive numbers from Linz, a current analysis shows that almost 76 percent of all donations in Austria went directly to aid organizations. The increase in donations for emergency and disaster relief is particularly noteworthy. Seniors have played a central role in this: people over 65 years donate an average of over 250 euros and make up over 50 percent of all donations. In humans over the age of 70, their share of total donation volume has increased to 43.8 percent, which illustrates the still high willingness to donate of this age group, as reports finance
The willingness to donate, especially in Christmas time, testifies to a deeply rooted social culture in Austria. The impressive sums that are collected during the holidays contribute significantly to improve the living conditions of the needy and give them hope in difficult times.
