Tragic traffic accident in Carinthia: 84-year-old dies after collision

In a tragic traffic accident on the B85 in Carinthia, an 84-year-old was killed. The pensioner was traveling on the street from Winkl in the direction of St. Jakob in the Rosental in the early morning when his vehicle got on the right street bench for an unknown cause and collided head-on with the car of a 56-year-old woman who also comes from the Villach Land district. The collision was so violent that the pensioner died at the scene of the accident despite immediate attempts at resuscitation. The driver of the other vehicle suffered minor injuries and went independently to the Villach State Hospital. An alcohol test with her was negative. The fire brigade and police had to block the main road during the rescue and recovery work, which caused significant traffic disorders. Investigations on the cause of the accident are currently underway.
