Serious wood accident: young man of falling tree injured!
Neudorf-Großpesendorf, Österreich - A serious work accident occurred this morning when a 22-year-old was injured during a wooden race. Together with a 25-year-old friend, the man worked in a forest around 10:30 a.m. when a spruce about 30 meters laid down. The tree unexpectedly fell in the wrong direction and tore a branch of a nearby oak who hit the 22-year-old on the body. Fortunately, the Neudorf-Großpesendorf fire brigade was able to quickly intervene and save the seriously injured man from the rough terrain. After the primary care, he was flown to the LKH Graz with the rescue helicopter C 12, as ORF Styria reported.
wood industry under pressure
In the middle of this tragic accident report, we also find current information about the wood industry presented by Bernhard Ebner. The young entrepreneur, who entered the industry in 2010, has established himself as a one-man wood loan company. With a modern machinery, it creates around 6,000 solid meters of wood every year by removing old trees and damaged wood and creating space for young tree cultures. Despite his success, Ebner reports on the challenges with which he is confronted. Weather conditions, blocking away in winter and the bark beetle plague represent significant challenges that can affect its yield directly. He says: "For me, standing time means less money", which clarifies the consequences of the accident in the forest all the more urgently, because safety -relevant factors are also of great importance in this industry.
The accident and the associated risks throw a light on the dangers lurking in the wooden harvest. Since many factors can affect the productivity of a wooden bailout company, it remains to be seen how the industry will recover from these challenges.
