Shock rescue in Munich: 82-year-old seriously injured in elevator!
MUNICH (BAVARIA): On Monday, March 10, 2025, there was a dramatic elevator accident on Riesstrasse in which an 82-year-old woman was seriously injured. The old lady wanted to get into the elevator when it suddenly went up with the doors only slightly open, trapping her legs between the car and the elevator shaft. The husband, who was in the elevator, immediately pressed the emergency call and alerted the elevator technology as the situation exceeded the abilities of the technicians. The fire department was called in a short time later to deal with the first helpless situation, but their attempts to relieve the woman failed, reports said Fireworld.
Dramatic rescue operation
The fire department ultimately decided to lower the elevator, which is not typically done in the event of machine accidents. The elderly woman was anesthetized and supported with a spinal board. Several firefighters had to get into the cabin so that there was enough weight to move the elevator. It was only around 40 minutes after the alarm that the woman was freed and she was immediately transported to a trauma room to treat her serious injuries while the police took over the scene of the accident.
But the fire brigades were not only deployed on Riesstrasse. On Tuesday, another woman who got stuck in an elevator at the Lochhausen S-Bahn station took an hour and a half to be rescued. The elevator got stuck between two levels and despite intensive efforts by railway safety and elevator technology, the elevator could not be restarted. Only the fire department was able to help by partially removing the roof of the cabin with a saw and leading the trapped person out using a folding ladder. This elevator also remained out of service after the rescue Süddeutsche.de reported.
