Shock in Coswig: Resident sets fire to accommodation – 17 in danger!
An infernal inferno in Saxony-Anhalt! A 24-year-old Somali man set his own room in a shared accommodation in Coswig on fire with a piece of furniture, risking the lives of 17 people. It all started on a quiet Sunday evening shortly after 11 p.m. when the fire broke out on Industriestrasse. Chaos ensued and firefighters rushed to the scene to fight the flames as thick smoke enveloped the building, forcing all residents to flee!
The suspected arsonist and all 17 residents, along with a security guard, had to be brought to safety. While the fire brigade heroes finally brought the fire under control, the third floor could no longer be inhabited for the time being due to damage amounting to around 20,000 euros. The security employee did not escape the inferno unscathed as he suffered minor smoke inhalation.
Attempted murder investigation
Shocking revelations quickly emerged as police and prosecutors investigated. “The investigation into attempted murder is currently being conducted to the detriment of the residents and the security guard,” said the police spokesman. The suspect was ordered to be remanded in custody on Monday and is now in a correctional facility. The dramatic scenes in Coswig are a reminder of how quickly red flames can endanger people's lives!
